It's the second time an Evans family member has scored a double victory in the same year - his father Gwyndaf was awarded WMW’s inaugural Tom Pryce Trophy in 1996 having won the BRC that year, with Elfyn replicating the feat exactly 20 years later.
The Automotive Achievement Award went to Riversimple of Llandrindod Wells for the radically innovative Rasa lightweight hydrogen-powered prototype car. Road-legal and built for full European Type Approval, it can cover 300 miles on 1.5kg of Hydrogen and has the lowest 'well-to-wheel' carbon emissions of any vehicle. The awards were presented by HM Lord-Lieutenant for Gwynedd, Edmund S Bailey.

Riversimple Founder Hugo Spowers said: “We are surprised and delighted by this award, a tribute to the outstanding talent and creativity of the whole Riversimple team. The Rasa was launched this year to great acclaim and we are confident it can bring a momentous change in the way mobility is delivered in a sustainable way. Exciting developments are planned for 2017, including a 20-car beta test in Monmouthshire.”

WMW chairman Huw Thomas added: “Early in the last century the first motor car at most towns and villages in Wales was the Ford Model T. The company remains market leader here and has a major engine manufacturing centre at Bridgend. We at WMW are most grateful to Ford for its support for this year’s Annual Awards."
