WMW president Terry Davies (pictured, right) writes: "John Edwards, who died on Tuesday, June 10, aged 85, had a long and successful career as a freelance motoring writer, contributing to the Wrexham and Flintshire Leaders, Western Telegraph, Cambria Wales magazine and many others.
"He was a founder member of the Northern Group of Motoring Writers, winning several Pirelli Awards for Weekly Motoring Writer of the Year. He became a founder member of the Welsh Motoring Writers group in 1992 and gave long and exemplary service as group treasurer, ultimately being awarded honorary life membership in 2006.
"Bangor-born John was a polite and mannerly gentleman of the old school, who was so very proud of his Welsh heritage. His writing was highly thought of in the motor industry and he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Patricia and daughters Sian and Carys, sons-in-law Damian and Paul, and grand-daughters Sapphira and Tara."
