WMW veteran Roy Brooks’s new educational book has gained the coveted approval of the Institute of the Motor Industry. The 2014 edition of Vehicle Maintenance & Repair is the latest in a highly successful series which has helped tens of thousands of students qualify and progress as automotive technicians.
Launched in 1971, when Roy was in charge of motor vehicle teacher training at Bolton College of Education, the scores of books in the series have all been edited and part-written by him. Roy is also a familiar ‘motoring voice’ on local radio.
Founder member, first WMW Treasurer and greatly respected motoring writer, John Edwards has decided to retire from active service as a motoring correspondent. He remains an Honorary Life Member and continues to be involved in Group matters.
Chairman Huw Thomas said: “I am delighted to welcome Mike Breslin to the ranks of Welsh Motoring Writers. Mike is a highly regarded professional motoring journalist who, I am sure, will be a great asset to the Group.
"Similarly, it is a real pleasure to congratulate Roy on the publication of the latest in his benchmark ‘Brooks Books’ series – Roy has made a remarkable contribution to the education of automotive technicians.
"All at WMW owe John Edwards an immense debt of gratitude for his work, with first Chairman Terry Davies, in establishing WMW and laying the foundations for success. He continues to be a much valued source of experience, encouragement and wise counsel for those of us at the helm here."
